FINALLY met my Washington D.C. clients planning a beautiful August wedding in the Colorado foothills at the lovely Evergreen Lake House. We’ve communicated over Skype and iChat for the past few months and spent the past several days on a “power planning” long weekend. Numerous cake tastings, a couple of band meetings, some intense floral design sessions and lots of laughs later…they’ve made their way back East. They had the opportunity to work with the super-talented Michelle and Zach Wear of Revert Photo who captured a wonderful engagement photo session.  While my favorite image is below, check out their blog to see more – and catch a little video they cooked up too.  Hope you enjoy the glimpse as much as I’ve enjoyed getting to know these two!

Barn Weddings

I’ve met more than a few brides recently who have the vision of a barn wedding.  I find the idea immensely charming. I grew up on a farm in south Georgia. My sweet Daddy converted the loft of our barn into the best “playhouse” a little girl could want – complete with a handmade wooden kitchen set. My sister, brother and I would fling open the loft doors to let the summer crosswinds flow through and play for hours and hours. While there are some great options in the Denver and foothills area, three wonderful foothills barn wedding options follow. I am happy to assist clients in planning weddings at two of these this summer.  Kick up your heels and enjoy…

The barn at Evergreen Memorial Park (in the Troutdale area south of Evergreen) is quite rustic and full of charm.  Check out their website to get a glimpse of the gorgeous stained glass window in the loft.

Next, and just down the road from the barn shown above is the red barn of the Meadows at Marshdale.  This is a lovely spot with many options for ceremonies and receptions.

Finally (one of my new favorites!!!), Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield.  What a perfect combination of proximity to Denver, natural beauty and old farm charm…so many lovely elements merged into one. I am particularly fond of the hanging lanterns and the old silo. Not to be missed…and still a bit of a bargain…

Hope this helps any of you newly-engaged brides who are looking for a little homespun elegance for your big day.  Maybe you weren’t “raised in a barn”..but you could be married in one!

Very excited to have the opportunity to plan a wedding at the fabulousness that is SaddleRidge in Beaver Creek.  The options for outdoor events, recreation, fabulous food and luxurious accommodations are boundless at Beaver Creek.  This will be a July weekend full of fun and beautiful scenery.  Thrilled to be a part of it!
